2019-20 Girls 18s and 16s Coach
Darin is no stranger to the sport as he has been playing volleyball for over 25 years. He was born and raised in Southern California and spends his free time hanging out with his wife and kids. When he isn’t with the family, he spends his hours coaching volleyball. He was the director of AMP Volleyball Club based in the greater Orange County area for 8 years. He has 9 years of experience and counting as the head varsity coach and program director at Beckman High School for both boys and girls volleyball programs. His teams have gone on to compete in 1 CIF final, 3 CIF semifinal, 1 State semifinal and numerous quarterfinal appearances. He has four years of coaching boys club volleyball at various ages. Aside from club, he holds private lessons and is a part of the Jump Start Youth Camps and Clinics program. He is currently the director at Left Coast.
Head Coach/ Recruiting Coordinator
Josh grew up in Orange County where he spent most of his waking moments from adolescence to young adulthood either playing sports or at the Southern California Beaches. The Southern California beaches are where his love of volleyball grew and advanced. He completed his education and excelled in college athletics. His college playing career was cut short by multiple injuries and this is where his focus turned to coaching.
He has spent the last 20 years learning from great coaches, coaching and mentoring some of the county’s elite athletes in high school as well as college and has held multiple coaching and directing roles in local Volleyball clubs. He is currently the head coach at Calvary Chapel High School. His most recent stint in club volleyball was spent at a local club directing, coaching and growing a club from 6 teams to 22 teams and increasing their standing and level of play each year for the past four years.
He has an amazing wife of 16 years, Noelle. We have three children; Slater 6, Delaney 14, and Makenzie 16.
He enjoys spending time with his family, sports, outdoors, and coaching.
Girls 14s + 15s
Matt grew up in Tustin/Irvine and was part of the first graduating class at Beckman High School. He graduated with an Art degree from UC Irvine and has coached locally throughout Irvine and Tustin throughout the past 10 years. His coaching career includes:
- 7 years coaching club-level boys and girls teams (13s-16s)
- 6 years coaching high school volleyball at Beckman HS and Northwood HS
- Currently the Girl's & Boy's JV Coach at Beckman HS
- Coached 1 year for the Chapman Men's Club Volleyball Team
- Private Lessons
- Jump Start Youth Camps & Clinics
- 3 years teaching youth introductory sports in baseball, soccer and basketball.
Coach Ron is in his 35th year of coaching volleyball here in Orange County. He has been head coach at Mater Dei, Canyon and Northwood High Schools and assistant coach at Cal. State Fullerton University.
Ron also coaches both boys and girls basketball at MacArthur Fundamental Int. School capturing 15 league titles. He teaches history at MacArthur. His hobbies include fishing, gardening and art.
Coach Ron stresses the fundamentals of the game beginning with footwork. He incorporates the relationships players have defensively and offensively to each other and the movements and adjustments athletes need in transition to better anticipate.
He has been married 25 years and has 3 children. He currently has a daughter-playing varsity volleyball at Woodbridge High School.
Head Coach/ Sand Coordinator
Karlee started her volleyball career playing seven years of club all over Orange County. At the collegiate level, she played two seasons at Orange Coast College where she was awarded OCC’s Athlete of the year in 2012 and received an All State for California Junior Colleges. Following her time at OCC, she was then recruited and earned a scholarship to play sand volleyball at the University of Hawaii. During her time in Hawaii, she placed 3rd in the country in the 2014 National Sand Volleyball Tournament.
Aside from her impressive resume as an athlete, she has chosen to further her volleyball career by coaching. Karlee has nine years of overall coaching experience. She is the current girls and boys assistant Varsity coach at Tustin High School. She has four years of club experience.
Adam grew up in Tustin and started his volleyball career playing four years of club at Balboa Bay and Orange County Riptides. In 2006, his team notably placed gold in the Junior Olympics in the 18s Open Division. He was the first volleyball player from Tustin High School to receive a scholarship from a NCAA D1 program. He went on to play collegiately at Loyola University Chicago.
From then on, Adam began his coaching career at Tustin High School. He led the boys and girls summer programs, was the boy’s assistant varsity coach in 2011, and was the boys head junior varsity coach. He also assisted the Beckman High Schools girls and boys summer programs. He began coaching club at Top Gun where he assisted the girls 17s team and has been within the Left Coast family ever since.
Fun fact about Coach Adam: his dad was elected Mayor of Tustin twice and was a City Council member for 8 years. His family is very much proactive within the community as his mom has run an afterschool homework club for grades kindergarten to 8th grade for over twenty years.
Diana began playing volleyball at Beckman Highschool her freshman year and then went off to study biology at UCLA. She chose to further pursue her love for the game by coaching.
She led the Beckman Girl’s Frosh-Soph team through back-to-back undefeated seasons: Fall 2018 and 2019. She led a volleyball after school program for Elementary school kids within the Tustin Unified School District including: Arroyo and Ladera Elementary. Coach Diana has experience running youth clinics for ages ranging 8-14. This is her first year joining the Left Coast family.
When she isn’t coaching, she is working in physical therapy and furthering her graduate education in hopes to become a physician assistant.
Girl's 13s + 15s
Coach Makayla has been coaching for 7 years at the club and high school level.
She played at Orange Lutheran HS and chose to further her love for volleyball by starting to coach shorty after graduating.
She has coached both girls and boys ranging in age from 12-16 and has enjoyed every moment.
She has led many youth camps and clinics to inspire youth around Orange County to love the sport of volleyball.
She graduated college with a degree in communication studies from Concordia University Irvine.
When Coach Makayla isn’t coaching, she is playing board games with friends, playing beach volleyball and cooking good food in the kitchen.
